Automated ozone treatment for two poultry houses

A portable, programmable solution designed to treat the prepared litter and indoor environment before the next production cycle.

OVERVIEW

The critical point was not only washing the house: it was treating what entered afterwards.

In floor-raised poultry farming, once the concrete floor has been washed, a new straw litter is laid before the next cycle. That step can reintroduce potential criticalities into the house. Energy Division analysed the process and configured an ozone-based solution designed to treat the indoor environment and the prepared litter.

CONTEXT

Floor-raised poultry, straw litter and fast production cycles.

The client operates two large poultry houses. After standard washing and cleaning operations, straw litter is laid on the floor for the next cycle. The requirement was to add a further treatment step without complicating daily operations.

CRITICAL POINT

The potential risk was the litter introduced after washing.

Straw may be stored in areas exposed to rodents or other sources of contamination. The treatment therefore had to address not only surfaces, but the entire indoor environment after the litter had been prepared.

TECHNICAL CHOICE

One portable unit for two houses: lower investment, same process.

Instead of proposing two fixed units, a portable ozone generator was selected. The same machine can be moved from one house to the other, reducing the initial investment while keeping the operating procedure simple.

AUTOMATION

A 24-hour programmed cycle with interval operation.

The generator is programmed through a digital timer and left to operate for about 24 hours, alternating working and pause phases. Automation makes the process repeatable and reduces the need for continuous supervision.

TECHNICAL DATA

30,000 mg/h professional generator, programmable and portable.

The EKH - PA30 unit combines 30,000 mg/h ozone production, 255 W power input, compact 35 × 22 × 30 cm dimensions and an approximate weight of 5.7 kg. The portable format was key to using the same system across both poultry houses.

OPERATIONAL OUTCOME

A solution integrated into the client’s real workflow.

Ozone treatment does not replace standard washing activities; it complements them at the right point of the process, after litter preparation. It is a technical decision based on operational observation, not a catalogue item.

WHAT THIS PROJECT PROVES

When the issue is in the process, the solution must be engineered around the process.

This project shows the Energy Division approach: listen to the need, identify the real critical point, select the right technology and configure it in a way that is sustainable for the client. When a standard solution is not enough, we engineer it and make it work.
