OVERVIEW

Autonomous energy where the electricity grid does not reach.

Between late 2023 and early 2024, Energy Division worked on a project for isolated houses and small villages in the forest, near the Magdalena River in the Bolívar Department. In many areas there was no electricity grid: the project required a simple, repeatable and reliable system to provide energy during day and night hours.

CONTEXT

Isolated houses in the forest and small villages without grid access.

The project originated in hard-to-reach areas where many houses were little more than simple dwellings surrounded by vegetation. The goal was not to install a standard product, but to make energy available through a system that was simple, repeatable and compatible with local logistics.

ANALYSIS

A precise requirement for energy autonomy.

The client required an energy reserve of about 3 kWh. Energy Division therefore sized a 25.6 V / 120 Ah battery to meet the operating needs of the autonomous photovoltaic system planned for each house.

SOLUTION

Engineering, components and technical support.

Energy Division handled the engineering, sizing and production of the main components. On-site installation was managed by a local partner company, with the technical support required to replicate the system across approximately 400 installations.

IMPLEMENTATION

From technical solution to field implementation.

The batteries were produced, integrated into the systems and installed for the houses involved. The project is currently operational.

FIELD VERIFICATION

On-site presence and technical control.

The project required field checks and on-site activities, confirming the importance of an engineering approach that supports the solution from design to commissioning.

WHAT WE LEARNED

When the market cannot offer a solution, we engineer the right one.

This project shows how Energy Division approaches rural electrification: not from a catalogue, but from the context. When the area is isolated, the grid does not exist and the solution must be repeatable, engineering has to turn a specific requirement into a working and installable system.
