How can batteries support night irrigation with photovoltaics?
Engineering answer
A battery can store daytime PV generation for irrigation after sunset. Size usable storage from pump power, night operating hours, conversion losses, operating reserve and the allowed battery discharge range. Check motor starting demand, inverter capability and whether daytime PV production can recharge the battery under seasonal conditions. Compare this with daytime pumping into a water tank before choosing the final design.
