How can a village obtain safe drinking water without an electrical grid?
Engineering answer
Start with laboratory analysis of the source water and the required daily volume. Design the treatment process around the contaminants found, then size an off-grid PV supply for pumping, treatment, controls and the required operating reserve. Water storage can help schedule pumping during daylight. Verify treated water and distribution hygiene before declaring the supply suitable for drinking; solar power alone does not make water safe.
